Artist Bio

Wei Zhang (she/her, b.1993, Dalian, China) is a visual artist trained in traditional Chinese painting techniques, specializing in nature-inspired works. Born and raised in China, her practice is deeply influenced by Chinese aesthetics and philosophy. She is currently active as a freelance artist in New Jersey and New York.

Working primarily with silk, ink, and traditional Chinese pigments, Zhang’s practice begins with walking into nature and extends to reflections on literature, history, reality and illusion. Her paintings capture the vitality of plants in their natural state, rendered with meticulous detail and serene colors, creating an Eastern poetic realm that invites viewers to pause, wander, and find a sense of inner peace. She also explores the extension of Chinese art within contemporary and international contexts, creating ink installations that embody traditional Chinese aesthetics.

Zhang’s work has been exhibited internationally, including in Beijing, New York, New Jersey, and Wisconsin. Her works are held in numerous collections, including private collections, Luo Hong Art Museum, and the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center.
